Adopted by the IASSW Board of Directors on July 8, 1989

IASSW supports the Master's Plus 32 hours as the appropriate salary scale placement for an entry level school social worker. Credit should be granted for all prior professional work experience in schools, as well as for all social work positions held since receipt of the bachelor's degree. Such placement on the salary schedule accurately reflects the time spent and credit hours earned in a two-year Master's degree program which includes a full academic year of supervised internship. Credit granted for experience in social work positions reflects the worker's professional growth in skills and knowledge which will be utilized in the school social work field. Such experience parallels the professional growth of teachers during their pre-master's experience.

Therefore, IASSW advocates a salary schedule placement at the Master's plus 32 hour level, to appropriately compensate school social workers for their two-year Master's degree and all professional work experiences in education and social work fields.
