The Choices in Sport site is designed by the NCAA and is focused on collegiate athletics. It provides information on a variety of drugs and their effects on athletes, the psychology of sport, and sport nutrition. The unique aspect of this site is that it not only includes separate areas for athletes and coaches, but also an area for crew chiefs, athletic trainers, and team physicians.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) developed this site specifically for 11 to 13 year olds as a means of conveying information about the motives for and consequences of drinking. Using a lively, interactive comic book format, the site is filled with activities and quizzes that engage young people. Featured are a “reality check” quiz informing them about the degree of drinking that exists among adults and youth, and a section on the “right to resist” showing various strategies for resisting peer pressure.

Erowid acts as a publisher of new information as well as a library for the collection of documents published elsewhere. The information found on the site spans the spectrum from solid peer reviewed research to fanciful creative writing.

Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free: Youth

Founded by the NIAAA and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, this is an initiative to prevent alcohol use by children ages 9-15. A youth section of the website offers information for young people on the effects of alcohol, tips on saying no, and a list of organizations and websites to refer to. Other features include an extensive statistics section addressing the effects of drinking on school performance, and sections providing access to research, prevention resources, legislation and publications.

National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA)

The mission of CASA is to inform Americans about the economic and social costs of substance abuse. CASA offers a number of publications for free in PDF format. These include such titles as "Teen Tipplers: American's Underage Drinking Epidemic," "Substance Use and Risky Sexual Behavior Fact Sheet," and "Malignant Neglect: Substance Abuse and America's Schools." Also included is an extensive list of links and information about specific CASA programs.

From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Prevline provides information about different types of drugs, and the people who use them. Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)

SADD is a peer leadership organization whose mission is “to provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions.” Through its website, the organization offers many resources including opportunities for students to participate in events throughout the year; statistics on underage drinking, impaired driving, drug use, and related problems; simple public service announcements; and detailed steps for starting a SADD chapter.
