Alternatives to Violence Project http://www.avpusa.org This association of community and prison-based groups offers experiential workshops in personal growth, creative conflict management, and responses to violence. Workshops target prisons, communities, and schools, helping participants become more productive and responsible citizens. AVP helps inmates learn new skills and attitudes and teaches new approaches to community groups, social service agencies, churches, and youth organizations serving those in need. American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence http://www.abanet.org/domviol/home.html The American Bar Association offers a hotline telephone number to call for assistance or information regarding domestic violence. Fact sheets such as "Five Ways to Fight Domestic Violence" and statistics on domestic violence are easy to download and print.
Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) http://www.acresolution.org ACR is dedicated to enhancing the understanding of conflict resolution and represents and serves mediators, arbitrators, facilitators, educators, and other involved in the field of conflict resolution and collaborative decision-making. This site includes links to chapters by city or state and specific interest sections including community, family, and workplace. The site includes guides to finding a family mediator or a family mediation trainer, definitions of the different forms of conflict resolution, and information on conflict-resolution programs for children. National Center for Conflict Resolution Education http://www.nccre.org NCCRE promotes the development of conflict-resolution education programs in schools, juvenile-justice arenas, and youth-service organizations. Harassment of youth with disabilities in particular has been steadily increasing. Whole school anti-bullying/anti-violence programs are necessary to address this problem effectively.
